The International Peace Garden

Wild Wednesday

As the usual our day started off with breakfast and devotion. After that we got in our cars and half of us went to UMCOR and half of us went to later day saints warehouse. I went to the later day saints warehouse and wow what a place. It was so big! They could rule with so much sustainably they have. They grow and can their own food, make their own cheese, do their own milk and whole lot more. We washed bread trays while we were there and took a tour then had lunch. After lunch we went to the water park! It was quite fun. One time I went on a triple seat tube with two others and they started before I was on and I got dragged behind them for half the slide but finally got on sorta and had a slash ending at the bottom. And I didn't burn really!!!!

Tons of fun on Tuesday

We again started our day with breakfast and devotion. We talked about the three P's (Pray, Prepare, Pay Attention). Then we went to Crossroads. Crossroads is a food bank/ social justice center. Did you know the UMW bought the building and let's Crossroads rent for only a $1 a year from UMW! We did a bed, we cleaned it out and put in gravel. After that we ate lunch and chilled on the lawn. Then we headed to UMCOR Depot and others went to build school kits and two others and I made our poster with our names and pictures we drew from Helena to leave at UMCOR.
Then we headed back to the church and while dinner was preparing the people who weren't making dinner watched the Lorax. Then we ate potato bar for dinner. After I FaceTimed my daddy because it was his birthday! Happy Birthday Day Daddy! Then we went stargazing and there were no stars so I fell asleep. ( it was around 11 and I had a long day)

So Far, So good

Today we started the day with breakfast and devotion. We talked about being real with who we are and loving ourselves as much as we love each other, like self-compassion.
After that we headed to UMCOR Depot West. Wow it was SO COOL to finally go there! There were shelves and shelves of boxes ready to ship out boxes of school kits, health kits, birth kits and other kits. We started work by unwrapping 2,304 boxes of toothpaste and put in bags of 12 to put in health kits.
After we did that and finished lunch me and a few other kids went to the sewing room and my school bags for the school kits. Took awhile because machines kept jamming but once we got it all good we finished a few bags before we went back to the church.
Now we are back at the church and I cooked dinner with my group (we have groups of four people and it was my groups turn to cook dinner) and now we are just relaxing :)

What is UMCOR Depot West

I just realized some of you may not know what UMCOR is, UMCOR is The United Methodist Committee On Relief.
UMCOR Depot West is located in Salt Lake City, Utah, UMCOR West depot serves as a material resources warehouse to store UMCOR supply kits. UMCOR West helps reduce shipping costs and enhances efficiency when responding to emergencies in the western part of the US. The depot provides opportunities for kit ministry at churches in the Western Jurisdiction.

The facility serves as a field office and training center for disaster response, and also establishes an additional point of communication for UMCOR particularly if a disaster strikes on the east coast.
