My experience wasn't life changing but it definitely changed my perspective on things. I always knew being homeless wasn't fun, but I never thought deep into the challenges there are to being homeless. This past Friday I was "homeless" for a night. I got to sleep in a cardboard box and to tell you the truth it wasn't the best. I only got two hours of sleep that night. The reason is that i was cold and it was hard to keep warm, but then there is another reason. The other reason is because I felt so insecure. There was plenty of security around but I felt so vulnerable, like at home I have walls around me instead of a flimsy piece of cardboard. Walls also keep most of the sounds of outside out of my room, but in a cardboard box you can hear all the sound pretty clearly. There were so many firetruck, ambulance, and police car sirens that night. That sure didn't help me get to sleep. Overall I think this was a great experience for me and I plan to do it next year.
